The Olympus LS-11 takes the award-winning style and substance of its predecessor, the LS-10, to the next level. Convenience has been improved another notch, with the ability to capture each superior audio file at the touch of a button. Designed to complement mobile modern lifestyles, the LS-11 fits comfortably in the palm of the hand for maximum freedom and flexibility. Ideal for musicians, journalists, podcasters, and anybody needing high quality audio recording and playback capability on the fly, this pocket-sized studio captures it all in superb 24bit/96kHz quality. A new editing feature even allows files to be edited in the device, while Auto Recording makes sure no important sound is lost by switching on automatically once a certain audio level has been reached. In addition to extra long battery life, the LS-11 boasts a whopping 8GB of internal memory plus an SD card slot to extend storage options. The high-performing, sleek and compact silver LS-11 will be available from August 2009.
 
Top quality audio, cutting edge features
The Olympus LS-11 won’t miss a beat with VCVA* technology enabling the new Auto Recording function, which automatically switches on when it detects a certain audio level. To keep recordings clean and well-organised, this same feature naturally allows the LS-11 to automatically stop recording when the audio signal falls back below a certain level. Once crisp and clear recordings have been captured, this high-tech model boasts seamless playback between files that share the same format and sampling rate. But for true added convenience, nothing beats its new indexing function, which provides the ability to set index marks during recording and playback**. Meanwhile, to ensure essential details are never lost, the LS-11 offers improved audio quality across lower frequencies. This allows it to pick up more details than ever before.

Boasting a high-sensitivity, noise reduction stereo microphone and sampling rates of up to 24bit/96kHz with PCM recording, the Olympus LS-11 gives users additional flexibility thanks to a choice of three file formats: WMA, MP3, and WAV. Further advanced features include a double clock generator based on 44.1kHz and 48kHz sampling, which is especially useful for multi-track recordings. In addition, it is possible to divide and partially erase files and move and copy them between internal memory and SD cards for maximum convenience.

Impressive storage, long battery life
The LS-11 features a stunning 8GB of internal memory in addition to an SD card slot to enable storage capacity to be effortlessly expanded. It is also compatible with the SDHC format, allowing up to 32GB of additional storage space. And to guarantee all that storage capacity is able to be fully exploited, the LS-11 offers outstanding battery life providing up to 23 hours of recording time.
 
Ease of use meets pure intuition
Fitting perfectly in the hand, the LS-11 features a stylish silver body with exquisitely crafted metal volume and recording level dials. Its ergonomic form makes it a pleasure to hold, while compact design lets it slip easily into any pocket, bag or backpack for lightning fast responses to any recording opportunity. The new model incorporates a built-in stereo speaker for immediate playback, as well as a tripod socket for quick and easy mounting. It is compatible with both Windows and Macintosh operating systems, and comes with the renowned Cubase 4 LE music production software from Steinberg. This enables playback of 24bit/96kHz sampled PCM recordings – higher quality than a standard media player.

The Olympus LS-11 is also accompanied by an infrared remote control, a new carrying case which can also fit accessories, a USB cable, an audio cable and two microphone windshields. Additional optional accessories include an AC adaptor, ME30W conference microphone, and rechargeable Ni-MH battery.

The LS-11 Linear PCM Recorder will be available from August 2009.
